Faculty of Electric Power Engineering and Automatics

The faculty is one of the oldest (founded in 1918) and largest in the University. At present about 1500 day-students and more then 300 students by correspondence are being studying here. During the period of last 10 years more then 300 foreign students from more than 64 countries have graduated from the faculty.
The graduates of the faculty receive a Bachelor Degree (4 years of studying), Specialist (5.5 years) and Master (6 years) in the following majors:
- Electric power stations;
- Electric networks and systems
- High voltage engineering and electrophysics;
- Control systems of production and distribution of power electric energy;
- Electric machines and apparatus;
- Electromechanical systems of automation and electric drive.
- Non-traditional sources of energy
The University provides postgraduate and doctorate studies, advanced training.
More than 20 thousand engineers, among them outstanding specialists in the field of science, technique, education and industry have been trained on the faculty. Among them there are the President of National Academy of Sciences B. E. Paton, Ukrainian Academicians A. K. Shidlovsky, I. M. Chizhenko, a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences B. M. Vul and others.
The conception of training specialists according to up-to-date needs of the scientific progress provides for the fundamental humanitarian, technical and special training of the students. Qualified professors, modern computer equipment and laboratories provide education quality with the newest machinery.
The faculty includes 8 departments, applied and basic research laboratories. It settles down in two cases and occupies the area of 18000 square meters. There is the Preparatory Department at the faculty. The laboratory base of faculty includes 64 educational laboratories. In territory of faculty audiences for realization of employment and courses of improvement of qualification, premises of administration, a room for teachers, auxiliary services are located.
Numerical structure of employees and students of faculty includes: Professors – 19; associate professors – 50; senior lecturers – 16; assistants – 7; full-time students – 1379; correspondence students – 353; total number of students – 1732; postgraduates – 12; doctor degree postgraduate – 1; foreign students and post-graduates – 30.
The Teaching staffs of the faculty in sufficient for the international dialogue and information interchange of a degree owns languages of the European Community and, first of all, English. A number of teachers of faculty in perfection own English, German, French languages.
Teachers, students and scientific employees of faculty own modern information technologies. Available backlog is connected to necessity modernization computer facilities and statement of the new software.
